Information booth at San Diego's Gay
Pride in Balboa Park
July
30 (Saturday) & July 31, (Sunday) 2005.
We
had a very successful information booth at San Diego Gay
Pride 2005. Perfect weather framed this festival celebrating
diversity in San Diego.
Most people had heard that the Boy Scouts of America is
a discriminatory organization (approved by the good seal
of the US Supreme Court).
Many people thanked us for a job well done by taking the
Boy Scouts of America to task as they don't even follow
their own Scout Oath or Scout Laws. People also wondered
if the Boy Scouts were reaping their dues by the mishaps
recently taken place throughout the U.S.
People from all parts of the United States signed
our petitions which will be forwarded
to the Boy Scout headquarters in Irving, Texas. We are
petitioning that the Boys Scouts of America end their discriminatory
policies against gay and atheist youth/adults. We know that
we have a long road ahead of us and we will continue to
forge ahead knowing that some day we can bring hatred and
discrimination to an end within the organization of the
Boy Scouts of America.
President Bush has a youth slogan, "No child left behind." Every
U.S. President is the honorary President of the Boy Scouts
of America. Scouting For All asks the President not to
be associated
with an organization that DOES leave children behind:
The Boy Scouts of America.
More
and more people come to our booth thanking us for a
job well done each year as the word continues to get
out.
--Special thanks to all of you who helped staff our information
booth. Thank you Brenda, Autumn, Ron,
Linda, Howard, Mick, Mike, Rochelle, Tami, Elizabeth,
Jennifer, Dean, Richard, Peter, and John for all your
help.
We really appreciate it.
