SCOUTING FOR ALL INFORMATION BOOTH AT SAN DIEGO GAY PRIDE --SATURDAY,
JULY 26th & SUNDAY, JULY 27th, 2003
San Diego—Local Eagle Scouts and community leaders will be staffing
an information booth at the San Diego LGBT Pride 2003 to provide information to the
public about the Boy Scouts of America's (BSA) discriminatory policies,
Saturday, July 26th and Sunday, July 27th, 2003.
The San Diego Chapter of Scouting for All will provide information
to the public about the Boy Scouts’ current policies of exclusion
against the LGBT and atheist communities. San Diego Scouting For All
has also formed Balboa Park For All concerning the issue of the City of
San Diego continuing to provide a “sweetheart” land lease subsidy of prime
Balboa Park land to the Boy Scouts of America's local Desert Pacific
Council (The local San Diego district council of the Boy Scouts of America).
This lease agreement violates the City of San Diego's own law which prohibits
itself from doing business with any organization which advocates discrimination
based on sexual orientation.
Additionally, San Diego Scouting For All will be inviting people to sign
petitions to change the national Scouting exclusionary policies, send postcards
to President Bush imploring him to step down as the Honorary President
of the BSA, enlist the help of more local volunteers, and promote attendance
at the upcoming protest rally (October 12, 2003) in front of BSA local
headquarters in Balboa Park. For more information: http://www.sdscoutingforall.org
