Mission Statement
As members of the Alliance
for Human Rights, we are dedicated to equality and
openness among people. We believe the Boy Scouts of America's
(BSA) policy of discrimination is a human rights violation
because it discriminates against individuals because
of one's sexual orientation and religious beliefs.
We will advocate on behalf of its members and supporters
for the restoration of the traditionally unbiased values of Scouting
as expressed and embodied in the Scout Oath and the Scout Law,
and to influence the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to serve and include
as participating members all youth and adult leaders,
regardless of their spiritual belief, gender, or sexual orientation.
The BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA (BSA) are coming to San Diego on Wednesday and Thursday, May 21st and 22nd, 2008 for their annual conference.
The conference will be held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt at 1 Market Place, San Diego. Scouting for All is coming to town to picket and protest the BSA.
For more information on scheduled events, visit the News/Events page.
Discrimination or Inclusion?
All other Americans can become members of the
Boy Scouts of America providing they subscribe to their
beliefs. Former President Bill Clinton, in 1996, said,
"To discriminate against an American is un-American." Scouting
For All asks, "Would we as a society tolerate the BSA discriminating
against people of color?
What if the Boy Scouts of America said,
African American youth and adults were not allowed in
Scouting? How would the American people respond?
Scouting For All asks, "Would we as a society tolerate
the Boy Scouts of America discriminating against Mormons
or Catholics or any religion because of their religious
beliefs?"
The answer is that those who believe in social justice
for all would not tolerate any form of discrimination
against any segment of our society.
When gay youth
and adults, and atheists are discriminated against
we as Alliance members are offended and feel violated against this injustice.
The vision of the
World Organization Of The Scout Movement
is that scouting was created as an outdoor
program to include any child, youth, or adult seeking membership.
We stand together to seek healing change
within the Boy Scouts of America, a program which
currently has lost the vision of the World Organization Of
The Scout Movement.
Message From Scouting For All - National
"We will no longer tolerate our gay youth having
to remain invisible out of fear. We are working to help create
a society where gay (GLBT) and atheist youth will
feel safe, accepted, and loved for the beautiful individuals
they are blessed to be." --Scouting For All Board of Directors,
Members, and Volunteers
